Opportunities in Wind Energy in Estonia and Latvia

2023 is an exciting year for offshore wind in the Baltic States. With the first tenders due within the next months, the project pipeline includes several offshore wind projects due to be commissioned within this decade, totalling up to 6-8 GW with a potential market value that may reach well over EUR 20bn. The Baltic region offers great opportunities for collaboration with Dutch industry, especially for transport and installation, foundations, site studies, and R&D services. Meeting relevant stakeholders is of utmost importance to further reinforce bilateral ties and exchange knowledge on topics of mutual interest.

In Estonia, there are three defined development areas (so to call “firs wave projects” with a total capacity of 3-4 GW). In the second half of 2023, the authorities are about to launch auctions to find developers for additional development areas (with added capacity of 3-4 GW).
Between Estonia and Latvia, the cross-border 1GW offshore project ELWIND has entered the phase of preparatory work in the form of planning, studies, and permitting for the offshore areas.
The Dutch trade mission programme in Riga (Latvia) is centred around the WindWorks Conference that brings together experienced international energy experts, stakeholders and policy makers to shape the future of wind energy in the Baltic states.

We wish you successful and fruitful exchanges in using the B2Match platform!
